Know that Kari Jobe song? If you don’t, you should. Her voice is just down right precious. I have so much to be thankful for. Counting my blessings generally realigns my perspective.
Well what’s it take to get noticed? Not the, I dress like a tramp so men will look at me, kind of noticed, but the I wish just one of you would take the time to get to know me and see all the lovely and ugly and broken pieces inside me and choose that, kind of noticed. Sometimes it’s just difficult to be single in our culture. Oh I know I’m young and have plenty of time, but we really do make it tough to walk uprightly and be confident in our completeness in Christ.
Most of the time when I meet a really incredible guy, instead of getting hopeful that he’s the “one” (not sure where we came up with that; thank Disney likely), I say a prayer of thankfulness that God allows me to be reminded that there are men out there seeking the same things I’m seeking. It helps me guard my heart and not jump ahead, but also, hopefully guards that man and his relationship with his future wife. Most of the time. Sometimes one just catches you by surprise and you don’t have time to throw up those defenses. A little intercession please, Lord.
“Sing all you saints and you sinners. Call upon the mercy of the Lord. Come sing a song of redemption. Sing about the hope that is to come. Come and find peace. Everyone needs a little rest. Everyone needs a little joy and a song to sing in the darkest night. And life even when it gets you down, hope will turn it all around. But love is the greatest of these. Everyone needs a little.”

Beth: Hang in there sweet girl!!! I know how very hard it is. I also know you hear all the time that “you’re so young…you have plenty of time!” And I know that isn’t encouraging! To us it seems like as time goes by, the less likely it is to see ourselves in that place. Be strong in your faith! Be obedient! The wait is SO VERY worth it, I promise!!! I could say so many other things, but I’ve been in your shoes and the cliche phrases just seem to be cliche. But please believe me that the wait is SO VERY worth it!!! And then you can look back and be thankful that God gave you some time to yourself to fall absolutely in love with Him…that He gave you your single life for ministry in a way that you MAY not be able to do with a family…somedays its hard to see, but there are truly some great blessings in this time of your life. Its very difficult to be single in our culture, but your single life can be SO much fun!!!! And its not something that many people get! With that said…enjoy every second of it!!! Pray and wait!!!! Be obedient b/c the wait is so very worth it!!!! God’s blessings for you to wait on His perfect timing and not get married JUST to get married is so far beyond worth it…He will blow you away….I promise!!!!
Lacie: Beth, you are so gracious and thoughtful!! You are absolutely right and I needed to hear everything you said. Thanks for pointing me back to Christ and His faithfulness. I am so excited for you and Ken! What an incredible journey you have been on to get to this point and how beautiful the adventure will continue to become as you partner together. I pray I grow with as much grace and faith as you have. Thanks for being my “Barnabus”
