Heaven Rejoices, Earth Loses Out

One of my mom’s closest friends, Jean Moore, went to be with the Lord today. It makes me so sad. I know she is resting in His presence and what better place is there, but my little heart is just sad. She meant so much to me. She was there when my grandma got sick and looked after me. She taught me to sew Barbie clothes and made a joy out of the simple things in life, like gathering eggs. I love recalling her sitting in her chair in the living room with her big Bible open. She told stories with the kindest voice God ever made. There was really something unique about her voice. So sweet and pure and kind. When I hung out with her, she made me feel like I was the most special person on earth. You know how some people just have that gift of making everyone feel like they’re your best friend? Well she had it. She possessed the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit and she lived out her faith with such kindness, you couldn’t help but see Jesus’ reflection. I’m not very quiet and often too hard on myself and on others, but this woman’s life gives me a standard to attain to. Jean could have written Paul’s words in Phil 3:17 “Dear brothers and sisters, pattern your lives after mine, and learn from those who follow our example.” (NLT) I’m thankful for our Savior & eternity where we’ll enjoy being home together.
